Law Society: Celebrating Diwali

The first Asian High Court judge Rabinder Singh will headline the fourth annual Diwali event sponsored by the Law Society.

The Law Society in association with the Hindu Lawyers Association, Society of Asian Lawyers and Association of Asian Women Lawyers is celebrating Diwali. Diwali is an important religious festival in the Hindu calendar and in recognition of this, the Law Society is hosting an event which combines its religious significance with the positive impact of Asian lawyers in the profession.

Who should attend?

The event is aimed at lawyers, solicitors and students with aspirations to enter the legal profession. In keeping with the event, traditional/cultural dress is encouraged (changing rooms will be provided).

Why should you attend?

The Law Society is committed to promoting diversity in the profession. By supporting the Diwali event we hope to celebrate its importance and highlight the positive contribution of Asian lawyers in the profession. The event also presents an opportunity to raise awareness of Diwali to the wider legal community. Following the formal session, there will be an opportunity for attendees to network and develop and build new professional relationships. The keynote speaker will be Sir Rabinder Singh who was appointed as the first Asian High Court judge. Aged 39 when he was appointed, he was thought to be the youngest judge to sit in the High Court.
